April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among the few female beach volleyball players to have achieved this feat. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. But she's still confident of achieving top honours. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they play their best, and even play well and they are able to play well, the team can win a gold medal. Then I will also take some luck. Ross, who was born 1982, and grew up within Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started participating in the sports of Newport Harbor High school. In addition to participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. While a prep student, she competed in basketball, indoor volleyball as well as running track. While she did well in indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her skills were above the average. The college bio says that she played outside of the hitter, middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career during high school. Thanks to her hard work she was named the 1999 Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles in the year 2017. But, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. It's true that she's been a winner of numerous major tournaments and one of them was a volleyball superstar. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Alongside Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international stage, claiming the world championship in 2009. The duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold overtaking them. The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a student athlete for USC Trojans before starting her professional career. She played in high school, as well as before hitting the beach as a professional. Her time at USC was one to remember. In 2000, as a freshman, her play earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. Additionally, she was a key player for helping the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she led the Trojans to the summit of the mountain netting successive national titles. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time great winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. When Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie, on the beach as well as in everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
