John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who focused on folk pop music was a hit with millions of fans. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf at Roswell from New Mexico fell in Love with Colorado. He settled in Aspen. There were many who traveled to Colorado following the Denver's cult anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first to be inducted into the hall. Denver is viewed as a symbol of Colorado by people all over. In my travels I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief career performing in small folk-based groups is Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff was the one who wrote the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear an early version and knew it would eventually become a Top 10 smash. After performing the song during a concert in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days later.
